How to apply for a place at Kinder

  • Please complete the application form

  • Attach current MyGov Immunisation Record

  • Pay the $45 Kinder Application Fee*

Next Steps in the Enrolment Process

Once you have submitted your application form, it will be forwarded to the Yarra Ranges Kinders (YRK) Enrolments Team for processing. Please note that processing may take 7-10 working days, or longer during peak periods.

You will receive an email confirmation once:

  • Your application has been processed,

  • Your application fee has been verified, and

  • Your child’s immunisation record has been confirmed as up-to-date.

Letters of Offer

The YRK Enrolments Team aims to commence sending Letters of Offer in August each year. Please monitor the email address provided on your application around this time.

Upon receiving a Letter of Offer, you will be required to respond with either “accept” or “decline”.

We will make every effort to allocate your child a place at your preferred kindergarten. However, if demand exceeds available places, we may be unable to accommodate your first preference. Placement offers are generally made based on the date your application was received.

If your child is not offered a place during the first round of offers in August, they will be placed on a waitlist for your preferred kindergarten. Once all first-round responses have been received and processed, we will review available vacancies to determine if we can offer your first preference or provide a place at your second or third preference.

Once you have accepted your offer, your child will be added to the class list for your chosen kindergarten.

Family Information Evening

Towards the end of the year, you will be invited to attend a Family Information Evening. This event will provide an opportunity to meet kindergarten staff and receive confirmation of your child’s group placement.

Final Steps Before Commencement

Prior to your child’s start date, you will receive a link to complete the following:

  1. Confidential Enrolment Form via our online Early Years Management System, OWNA.

  2. Department of Education Free Kinder Funding Declaration Form.

Please note that families are eligible to receive Free Kinder funding for only one service at any given time. If your child is enrolled in multiple services that offer a Victorian Government Funded Free Kindergarten program, you must nominate the service where you wish to claim this funding. (YRK offers only Free Kinder Funded positions at this time.)

  • Application form completed and submitted with MyGov Immunisation Record attached

  • $45 deposit paid or Credit Card details provided

  • Letter of Offer received

  • Kinder place Accepted or Declined by responding to the Letter of Offer within the specified time frame

  • Confidential Enrolment Form completed in OWNA

    Important Notice
    If at any stage you no longer require a place for your child, please notify us as soon as possible by emailing enrol@yrkinders.com. This allows us to update our database and allocate the place to another family in need.
